OUR LEAD SINGER

Image
Alex Turner:   Iggy Pop: Here you can see our lead singer Sam, the Arctic Monkeys lead singer Alex Turner and the rock legend Iggy Pop who was in The Stooges. Our lead singer doesn't have the typical rock star look, in our music video he is wearing a suit which is similar to one of the photos of Alex Turner highlighting we were inspired by his look. They also have a similar hair stair which is a clean cut this also isn't your typical rock star look. Our lead singer also has a very relaxed and cool look which is a very good star image for a lead singer of a rock band. We see Alex Turner is smoking. This symbolises him as someone who is rebellious which is a very good star image of a rock star, our lead singer doesn't have any photos like that as we haven't gone for the rebellious star image, we wanted to sell our bands image as authentic and organic. When looking at Iggy Pop, we see a stereotypical rock star. Long hair and he has his top o

AUDITIONS FOR A SINGER

Image
When deciding on our lead singer in the band we narrowed it down to three people who seemed a potential fit for ur band. These were Sam Steinberg, Freddy Kramer, Rob Elman. After analysing the 3 of them we came to a joint agreement that Sam Steinberg would be best fitted to be our main singer. This is because he could attract out target audience which includes young girls due to his good looks. It is very important that the main member our our band is seen as attractive to the audience because it can help increase the fanbase

FACEBOOK PROFILE THEMED TO OUR BAND

Image
Facebook profile for target audience This is an example of our target audiences Facebook profile.  He is clearly a big fan of rock bands which is made evident due expressing his enjoyment in reading books based on bands like 'The Exes' as well as 'Five favours of dumb'. Also his love for  bands is shown again through the movies he has watched and enjoyed. These our 'The Rocker', 'School of Rock and also 'The runaways'. He has shown a keen interest in a wide variety of bands ranging from U2, Pink Floyd and even The Beatles

LOGO FOR OUR NEW BAND

Image
This logo was made by finding a 3 piece cartoon band on the internet then photoshopping to make it slightly cartoonish. furthermore we added the effect of the black and white to match the theme of our music video. The next step was to add the logo in and trying to find the right front was quite hard due to shape, thickness and angle but in the end it came together. We did have an idea of adding the initials of the band into the middle of the drum kit but in the end it looked slightly tacky and we decided not to use it.

OUR FIRST RUN THROUGH IDEA

FEEDBACK FOR OUR NEW IDEA

Image
From this feedback we gathered we have noticed that filing in one location is simple and should be easier to achieve a good grade however we must be clever in how we edit it to make it eye catching and not boring

HOW WERE GOING TO FILM OUR VIDEO

We are going to have the song playing in the background. And we will film everything from a wide so we can see all the band members. Further to this we will film close ups of every band member conducting their job. We will also get close ups of the instruments in use in particular parts of the song. To produce a high quality viewing perspective we will use a lot of quick cuts in time of the beat. We will also have the privilege of using two cameras to enhance the shot. This will allow us to have two shots at the same time. The use of low angle and high angle aswell and side shots and close ups will be the main make up of our video but also the passion and hardwork of the performers will rub off into the performance which was one of the problem from our previous run through To make sure we get the best use out the camera, we will also take advantage of the balcony in the theatre where we can get some high angle shots looking down at the band, which will add another dimension

BAND MEMBER UPDATE

Image
Due to the negative feedback received from our original run-through we decided to adopt some changes throughout the story and also changing up 2 of our band members. we have kept the original singer however we have changed to drummer and guitarist. Sam Steinberg will be kept to our singer which is the same as our original idea Sonny Lieberman will be our new guitarist as he has years of experience on the strings Daniel smith will be our new drummer

OUR NEW IDEA

Image
The New Idea:  After the feedback we received we decided that we wouldn't carry on with the idea and music video we had originally. While looking at our bands music videos we liked the idea and the music video of the song 'Hey Ya' by Outkast and we have now decided that we would have a similar music video of our band.  We will now be using 3 males in our band rather than having a female drummer. Therefore, the idea and narrative of our drummer and singer having a relationship will not be involved anymore. the idea will be more organic and highlight the performance more then the actual storyline

CHANGING OUR IDEA

Image
Changing our idea: After receiving feedback from other pupils in our school the feedback we got from a lot of criticism and we have decided to change our idea and film our music video again. The cristism and feedback we received included: We had too much focus and camera time on our lead singer during the intro.  The band wasn't introduced early enough so it didn't look right.  There wasn't a wide enough variety of shots and people wanted more.  Our lead singer wasn't singing in the studio and it didn't look effective.  There were also shots which had an unsteady camera and didn't look professional enough. We came to a decision to change our idea slightly by refiling with new band members and a slightly different story. We received feedback in how we can improve our idea

ACCOUNT OF EDITING PART 2

Image
Further to part one of editing, in our introduction of the instrumental, we had to fill in some of the gaps that were missing footage  to complete the sequence and the story. this was carried out by filling it with footage of the drummer and the singer practising the lyrics by the boot of the car and where as the guitarist is seen tuning his car in in the front of the car symbolising the relationship differences between the band members. The next stage was completing the end section of the video where the lead singer is seen taking off his jacket where he really feels at one with the music. as well as this there are also cut shots where to band performing the song in the studio with the lyrics and speech fitted together in time which  also took a bit more time then originally thought. Another shot which had to be included was implementing the footage of the singer and guitarist playing Fifa and enjoying there times as a friends and enjoying life however this shot required cut

CHANGES SINCE OUR ORIGINAL IDEA

Since our original idea was formed, over time we have made many a number of significant changes due to a number of reasons. 1. We changed our male drummer Freddy Kramer to Female Katie Fisch which changed the whole dynamic of the group. This Gave us a a fresh load of Ideas 2. we changed the story of the video to two of the band members having a relationship while the other is a great friend 3. We were unable to film the band in the a field as group or get a shot of the lead singer laying on the floor as it is merely impossible to transport the camera to the field as it contained thick wet mud on a rainy dad making the situation very hard. 4. As a group we made the decision to cut the individual scenes of eating breakfast and closing the front door as we altered the story to the band members being all in 1 house and the eating scene would become to long winded and slightly boring. 5. The addition of time lapses was also  great idea as it broke up the story during instrumental stag

ACCOUNT OF EDITING PART 1

Image
After three long days of filing in the different locations, the next step in completing our music video was to edit the footage gathered on the camera. During our shoot days we film over 300 individual clips, some useful and some not but the most challenging thing was going through each clip and working out which ones to keep and discard which took and awful amount of time, this however made sure we had the best footage available  to put into video and make it the best we could, we did however keep some clips that were similar and at the highest quality possible to compare how they fitted in with the rest of the clips either side of it. Finally we did take extra shots for our film but those parts never the cut as we realised the film would become long winded and slightly boring for the viewer. However i did include some timelapses  which i shot on my Mobile device to add some effect to our project. The first task we carried out was putting together our introduction with
