ANALYSIS OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE OF SKYFALL

Image
SKY FALL OPENING SCENE ANALYSIS In the opening scene of the film Sky fall, the use of the non-diegetic background music signifies that tension is building up and something quite serious might occur in the up coming seconds. This sense of tension and seriousness is deepened as the way we follow 007 from behind as he carefully walks through the dusty building surrounded by dead bodies which on its own symbolises danger. The way the camera is used from behind brings the audience with him and its makes us feel that bond is protecting us. Although we know Bond has a license to kill he ignores the diegetic command from Ma'am and states "I must stop the bleeding" which shows he cares more about saving good people and killing bad people. The subject of the hardrive becomes more important when he realises its missing. This is enhanced with an eye line close up signifying that it is majorly important which at this point the music starts to liven up again, becoming more serious a

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTER 6 (HIGH HEELS)

Image
HIGH HEELS: Without even having to look properly at the poster, we instantly know that this film is going to be about women . Not only from the stand out bright pink background but also the words "high heels" symbolises the film is  nurtured towards to female side. Furthermore the picture of the female with the high heels, is also wearing revealing tights which may mean the film includes sexual scenes/references which may entice the male viewer as well. The image of the smoking gun is a clear indication that this movie involves violence and crime and in some cases death. Finally if the other components haven't  captured the public's eyes then the large bold italic writing shore will

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 5 (PULP FICTION)

Image
PULP FICTION:  Pulp Fiction many stand out colours and "sexy" grab the attention of the audience quite rapidly for many reasons. Firstly the colours represent and present many features of what this film could be about. The colour red is the colour of blood, death and defeat which may link to death and violence in this film. This is proven when the use of the gun in the poster is visible, strengthening the possibility of recurring  violence. The list of actors in yellow is eye catching to the public. Famous actors add credibility to the film and make is more popular as well as a well known film director who his known for his particular types of movies in the case Quentin Tarantino The price tag in the corner of the film poster shows the film is cheap which entices the public in to buy tickets for the film. Another simple way of persuading the audience to watch the film is the large bold yellow text which really stands out from the rest of the poster. Finally the seductive d

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 4 (SHERLOCK HOLMES)

Image
SHERLOCK HOLMES : The first thing that really catches your eyes when viewing this poster is the characters and the way they are dressed which is very smart but also symbolises the time period in which the movie is set being the late 1800s . there facial emotions and body language also shows a sense of pride but also very clever slick and sharp men but as well as this, it shows the men have quite well payed jobs to be able to afford expensive garments for example the top hat and walking stick. The sense of wealth continues when the lantern in the top right corner containing the numbers 221 which is situated in bakers street London, may be the home address for one of the characters. At first glance the back ground is very heavy and seems to be large thick steel wall usually found in prison/police station cells indicating these men work for the police but as investigators due to the smart clothing. The subject of police links to the picture of the hand gun situated on the bottom right o

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 3 (PLASTIC)

Image
PLASTIC :  When looking at Plastics film poster, the first thing that hit me was the background which I could tell was Miami, and without looking at anything else you could tell that this film would involve fights, drugs, gun violence and fraud as Miami is a playground and home  for all these crimes. the title plastic, resembles the plastic of credit cards which are also layed  out on the table in front of the characters which shows signs of success and smugness beyond the characters faces By glancing at the characters, we get conclude that the male sitting taking up the sofa is the leader of the gang and maybe he doesn't get involved as much and just sits back and watch the others do the dirty work, where as the male in the red Hawaiian shirt presents himself as one that likes the ladies and is quite cheeky and knows how to get his own way whereas the character next to him, seems like the most violent one, the guy that takes no prisoners and just gets the job done  but compared

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 2 (SKYFALL)

Image
SKYFALL :  When I first saw the Skyfall poster, the first thing that immediately came to mind was the simplicity of it. Although the poster is fully black and white with a touch of gold , the  surroundings of the bullet are very significant to the audience telling us that this film is has guns and violence involved. The colour scheme is also clean, crisp and sharp which can also be said about the male standing in a full Tuxedo. Expanding on the gun and violence proof, in the poster is he also holding a gun and next to the 007 symbol a gun is adjacent to it and is the only part of the poster in gold which may mean guns are the most important object in this movie

ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 1 (CHILDREN OF MEN)

Image
FILM POSTERS ANALYSIS In class we looked at many images and film posters and analysed the colours, text, surrounding images and the characters facial emotions. We learnt ways in how to get the deepest and clearest understanding of the film just by looking at the posters. Children of Men : From the first glance, the face behind the broken glass shows bravery and determination into completing a mission which links to the bold red text and the time period in which the mission needs to be completed in The broken glass shows brutality and fear which links to the characters face. The whole poster symbolises action but the futuristic time period provides ideas that it is a science fiction film as-well
