ANALYSIS OF FILM POSTERS 4 (SHERLOCK HOLMES)

SHERLOCK HOLMES: The first thing that really catches your eyes when viewing this poster is the characters and the way they are dressed which is very smart but also symbolises the time period in which the movie is set being the late 1800s . there facial emotions and body language also shows a sense of pride but also very clever slick and sharp men but as well as this, it shows the men have quite well payed jobs to be able to afford expensive garments for example the top hat and walking stick. The sense of wealth continues when the lantern in the top right corner containing the numbers 221 which is situated in bakers street London, may be the home address for one of the characters.
At first glance the back ground is very heavy and seems to be large thick steel wall usually found in prison/police station cells indicating these men work for the police but as investigators due to the smart clothing.
The subject of police links to the picture of the hand gun situated on the bottom right of the poster which may symbolise violence contrasting with the love for a sexual parter who is pictured on the left of the poster for ones of these two men.
With further analysis, the male half turning around with is slicked back hair and his harsh, evil facial emotion, he is the main criminal within the movie and Sherlock Holmes the investigator and his right hand man have to catch him.
