ACCOUNT OF SHOOT DAY 2

Image
Account Of Shoot Day: We decided that the main location of our music video will be filmed in our schools theatre which would demonstrate a live performance of the band playing at a concert as we believed this will give the music video that organic effect. The reason we believed this was because this is something the audience approve of due to the research and feedback that we gathered from out target audience. furthermore this has been used in many music videos over many years and although not original, it works and its effective and the audience do like it. We had to stay after school so we could get the filming done as there was no opportunity during school hours to do so as the theatre was heavily booked up. The first thing we did as a group was bring all the instruments into the theatre and set up the equipment in the formation the band would be playing, as were unable to do this during the day. Once we set all the equipment up, the band members got changed into their clothes wh

FEEDBACK FROM PROGESS SO FAR

Feedback from music video so far: We have began editing our music video by firstly adding the song in the background and gather some shots we had and put them in place. We, added the close up shot of the spotlight on our lead singer for the opening lyrics, the shot of our singer in the studio rehearsing and the shots of them playing wide as a band. After going round the school, we showed gathered a video of feedback from pupils as we wanted to know what has gone well so far and maybe what we could change it or anything that would need improving. From looking at the video most people thought that the lip singing wad perfectly in time and looked realistic. We knew our lip syncing would be accurate as we made sure our singer was in time with the song from the beginning.  Some people really liked the black and white effect of our music video and found it very cool and effective. Moreover, people also liked the close up of the guitarist hand movements as we see him playing it in tune with a

RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk Assessment:  Low  Medium  High  Need to be careful of breaking or dropping the equipment at school. If the weather is bad for example, raining or snowing it will be difficult to film. It is a busy road and high street so many people could walk past and have background noise affecting the film. As we are using a car injuring ourselves in or around the car. There could be road works or traffic lights on the street. This will effect filming. Our drummer is a young girl and we are filming in public she could be vulnerable and people could speak to her. Damage to the car or equipment during filming. As we our filming on a road someone may want to steal or rob the equipment and instruments of us. As we our filming outside and using expensive equipment someone or people could try and mug us or beat us up. Someone could trip over the wire. So we need to be careful and organized. We could be filming in a dodgy public area in which case we will need to be ca

ANOTHER INLFUENCE FOR AN IDEA

Image
An Idea for our Music video:  After browsing 'Youtube' and looking at many different music videos I felt as if I could add something which would be really effective and cool which the audience would enjoy as it isn't in many music videos. I decided that I wanted shots in the music video which included our band rehearsing in the studio. However, after more research and looking at videos I came to conclusion that a really cool effect would be is what ' Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It’s Christmas?' use. This is when the singers are singing down the microphone in the studio, and this is a shot we added into our video.

DEVELOPMENT OF OUR IDEA

Image
Our Idea:  We decided that to develop our idea we would need to have a background story within the band. We thought of different stories and events that has happened within bands and artists within the past. However, we came to conclusion that having a relationship within our band was a fantastic idea and we could relate it back to the band 'The White Stripes'. As well as this, our star image is incredibly similar to 'The White Stripes' which is another highlight of our band. Our Lead singer Sam Steinberg, likewise the lead singer and guitarist of 'The White Stripes' Jack White is in a relationship with our female drummer Katie Fisch, in which they met in secondary school at 17. They formed a band and began to gain a closer friendship which developed feelings. This is very similar to 'The White Stripes' as Jack and Megan in 1996 September 21. We felt that playing up the romance between the singer and the drummer would enhance the bands appeal as we

MUSIC VIDEO INTRODUCTION INFLUENCE

Image
Inspiration for Instrumental  Developing our ideas of Music Video:  During one of our media lessons, I was started listening to some music and watching music videos on 'You tube'. After watching one specific section of a particular music video I really liked the look of, I decided that it would be a good idea to use in our music video. This idea was to have our band members getting ready for their day at the beginning of the song during the instrumental. This was inspired to us by the grime artist Dave in his popular music video 'Picture Me'. This is because in Dave's video it had someone getting out of bed, getting dressed and off to work for an ordinary. We believed this will help us interact with our audience because they can relate to the normal lifestyles that the band members lived before they came famous and stars in the music industry. This can inspire the younger generation; that is our audience because it may teach them that if you work hard, no

DEFINING OUR AUDIENCE

Defining our audience Rather then the audience as a mass we need to break the audience down into a segments and look at the psychographics and demographics. Our song comes under the bracket of mass produced. The song is made for the mass of people. there is a downside to this as it can be interpreted as a commercial or trashy.  Our song is mainstream but we are trying to add an element of rebellion to it we are also trying to appeal to an alternative audience. Demographic Segmentation This is where an audience is segmented according to various significant social criteria for example gender, class, race and sexuality We looked at the demographics of our target audience Psychographic segmentation Also known as lifestyle profiling combines a psychological profile of the consumer with ideas about how they conducted their life in the market place VALS is the values attitudes and lifestyles classification system is probably the best known of the psychographic profi

CHANGE IN ACTORS

Image
Change of actors:  On our first day of shooting, one of our actors in the band who was our lead guitarist was not available to perform on this day. Therefore, we then decided to use another person to act in our band as we needed to start filming on this day. We then decided that using a girl would be a perfect replacement for the band. The idea came from thinking of other bands and the first thought that came to my mind were 'The White Stripes'. This was an American band made up of two members one being the lead singer and guitarist who was a male and a female on the drums. They had a very organic and rare star image - firstly as a stereotypical rock band including more than two members and mainly full of males. As well as this, they were always specific in which they wore during live performances. They would only wear red, black or white clothing. Another band similar to ours are 'Paramore'. The band members are all wearing different clothes and are stood t

ACCOUNT OF SHOOT DAY 1

Account of shoot day 1 Before we started getting the camera together our group had a discussion and came to a conclusion that it would be impossible to complete the filming of our music video with one of the actors that was to be in it due to the fact Freddy Kramer was unable to miss lessons to film with us, so we came to a decision that we would use a female for a video to add a twist which could also create a wider audience group. By having a mix gender band, it could be comparable to the likes of bands such as Paramore. Sam Steinberg would be the lead singer Katie Fisch would be the drummer Robert Elman would be the guitarist This shoot day consisted of the band practising in the studio, it would be a part in the video where the band had come together to try and perfect there song, tweeting it and tuning it so it just right. We manage to get. This required us not to use any specific outfits or props as it was a casual enjoyable filming section of the video. We got individual s

MOOD BOARD

Image
MOOD BOARD In our mood board we tried  to visually express the mood and theme of our music video.  The most important part of a mood board is the colours and that is why we decided to keep the colours mainly black and white apart from one obvious one in the middle where a band is performing.  This is because throughout are music video there will be minimal lighting apart from when there are shots back at the studio of the band performing as it shows there passion for music and wanting to become famous reiterated. The setting in the mood board shows that open space and the country side will be a key part of the music video due to it reinforcing the idea that the band have huge dreams and have no limits to there success. This links in with the narrative as its all about the band becoming famous and starting at the bottom as ordinary people. This is shown in the mood board as a few of the images show men being on there own alone. The image of the band is shown in the mood
