Defining our audience

Rather then the audience as a mass we need to break the audience down into a segments and look at the psychographics and demographics.
Our song comes under the bracket of mass produced. The song is made for the mass of people. there is a downside to this as it can be interpreted as a commercial or trashy.  Our song is mainstream but we are trying to add an element of rebellion to it we are also trying to appeal to an alternative audience.

Demographic Segmentation

This is where an audience is segmented according to various significant social criteria for example gender, class, race and sexuality
We looked at the demographics of our target audience

Psychographic segmentation

Also known as lifestyle profiling
combines a psychological profile of the consumer with ideas about how they conducted their life in the market place
VALS is the values attitudes and lifestyles classification system is probably the best known of the psychographic profiling systems.


Trendies: they crave the attention and admiration of their peers
Innovators: those who wish to make there mark

These two VALS above relate to our band and the story of the music video
