ACCOUNT OF SHOOT DAY 2
Account Of Shoot Day:
We decided that the main location of our music video will be filmed in our schools theatre which would demonstrate a live performance of the band playing at a concert as we believed this will give the music video that organic effect. The reason we believed this was because this is something the audience approve of due to the research and feedback that we gathered from out target audience. furthermore this has been used in many music videos over many years and although not original, it works and its effective and the audience do like it. We had to stay after school so we could get the filming done as there was no opportunity during school hours to do so as the theatre was heavily booked up.
The first thing we did as a group was bring all the instruments into the theatre and set up the equipment in the formation the band would be playing, as were unable to do this during the day. Once we set all the equipment up, the band members got changed into their clothes which we agreed our band would wear smart clothes, suits and shirts. Furthermore, after we had all the equipment set up, clothing on and ready to film we then decided to figure out how to the the spotlights and the lights. The reason we wanted to get this sorted as we felt it would be a really effective shot to get a close up of our lead singer with a spotlight on his face as he begins to sing the song which would also get a crowd going in the concert.
My contribution to the group was very important. Although, I am not a member of the band I filmed every shot and it was my idea to come up with the spotlight shots on our lead singer which looked extremely effective and original. I needed to learn how to use the spotlights and during this time I had to put them in the right position as well as setting the camera up in a position in which it would be a close up of our lead singer. Moreover, I made most decisions on which shots to do at a time, whether it was a wide shot of the whole band or close ups of each individual band member playing their instruments.
Filming these shots on this day was not a problem at all. This was because, we all worked together as a team incredibly well in which made it a smoother, quicker and easier experience for us as a group. On top of working as a team, we used are experience from last year to use the camera to its full use as well as exploring different camera shots. We decided to go through the entire song from many different angles and a variety of shots over and over again. We thoughts this would be very useful and effective so when it comes to editing our music video we have many different shots from different angles and sections from the song which will enable us to choose the best shots which fit the lyrics or which suits our style.
